Preamble:

The zfh – Zentrum für Fernstudien im Hochschulverbund (Center for Distance Learning in Association with State Universities of Applied Sciences) is an institution of the federal states Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and Saarland. According to art. 1 para. 2 of the distance learning programmes at Universities of Applied Sciences State Treaty legal entity is the Zentralstelle für Fernstudien an Fachhochschulen – ZFH

4. Purpose and legal basis of the data processing

Your data is being collected to ensure a correct admission procedure according to German national law. Legal basis according to art. 6 para. 1 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the particular admission rule of the University of Applied Sciences that you are applying to in connection with the State Treaty on distance learning programs at Universities of Applied Sciences. The data collection serves following purposes: - Checking your application (university entrance qualification, former studies, vocational training for the respective federal state and the respective study program) - Announcing your admission - Preparation and sending a notification of study fees as well as an application for enrolment - Assigning a matriculation number in cooperation in cooperation with the respective University of Applied Sciences - Creating a student ID card in cooperation with the respective University of Applied Sciences - Distribution of study materials or activation of the e-learning platform - Forwarding information to your health insurance company - Verification of your residential status in Germany

5. Recipient of personal data

After your personal data has been processed and after you have been admitted to your desired study program your personal data will be submitted to the respective University of Applied Sciences so that the university can enroll you.

6. Transfer of personal data to a third country

It is not intended to submit your personal data to a third country or an international organization.

7. Duration of storage of personal data

Your personal data will be stored for five years after you have graduated. The storage of personal data is conducted in compliance with the data protection regulations.

8. Rights of personen affected

According to the General Data Protection Regulation (art. 15 GDPR) you are entitled to the following rights: If personal data is being processed, the data subject shall have the right to obtain information on which personal data is being saved. If inaccurate data is being processed, the data subject shall have the right to obtain from the controller the rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning him or her. If the legal requirements are fulfilled, the data subject has the right to obtain from the controller the erasure (art.17 GDPR) or restriction of processing (art. 18 GDPR) of personal data concerning him or her as well as the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning him or her (art. 21 GDPR).

9. Obligation to provide information

In order to take part in an admission procedure, you are obliged to provide us with personal data. This obligation is part of the Higher Education Act of the Federal States Rhineland Palatinate, Hesse and Saarland in connection with the respective applicable admission rules of the host University of Applied Sciences. If personal data is not provided, your application cannot be processed. In this case an admission to the study of your choice is not possible.
